The task may be more difficult this time as the opposition are less split three ways; the Social Credit party, refreshed by a new leader, have already persuaded Liberal, NDP and Progressive Conservative MLAs to join their ranks. Bill Bennett, son of WAC Bennett is the new Social Credit Leader. There are new leaders also for the Liberals (Gordon Gibson) and the Progressive Conservatives (George Wallace). To counter Barrett’s openly Socialist  NDP, Bennett had shifted the Social Credit party towards the centre ground.”

Acadie - 2009

Acadie - 2009

“The 2008 Federal Elections for the Parliament of Acadie returned to power the Parti Libéral, one seat short of a clear majority. The new government was unable to get its budget passed when the Acadie Solidaire, who held the balance of power, voted with the Parti Conservateur opposition. This has forced a new Federal Election, which gives an opportunity to both Libéral and Conservateur to win a majority. The Acadie Solidaire’s hope is to hold the balance of power. The Parti Vert hope to win a seat.”
